Jesus in Islam (part 1)

In The Name of Allah Most, Compssionate, Ever Merciful
There is no deity (God) but Allah and Muhammad is the messenger of Allah

desertarabic.jpg
Jesus in Islam (part 1)
Jesus_in_Islam_(part_1_of_3)_001.jpgThe Islamic view of Jesus lies between two extremes. The Jews, who rejected Jesus as a prophet, called him an imposter, while the Christians, on the other hand, considered him to be the son of God and worship him as such. Islam considers Jesus to be one of the greatest and most forbearing of prophets, in addition to Noah, Abraham, Moses and Muhammad, may God praise them. Jesus is also considered to be the Messiah as well. This is in conformity with the Islamic view of the Oneness of God, the Oneness of Divine guidance, and the complementary role of the subsequent mission of God’s messengers.

The message of God to humanity, which is to worship God and God alone and to live according to His instruction, was revealed to Adam (peace be upon him), who passed it on to his children. All the subsequent revelations to Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and, finally, Muhammad are in conformity with that message. Thus, Islam views any contradictions among revealed religions as man-made elements introduced into these religions. The position of Jesus in the three major creeds- Judaism, Christianity, and Islam- is not an exception.

Although the Quran does not present a detailed life-story of Jesus, it highlights the important aspects of his birth, his mission, his ascension to heaven. It also passes judgment on the Christian and Jewish beliefs concerning him. We will look at some of the truths which God revealed about Jesus in the Quran.

Born of a Virgin Mother

Like Christians, Muslims believe that Mary, Maria in Spanish, or Maryam as she is called in Arabic, was a chaste, virgin woman, who miraculously gave birth to Jesus. Jesus’ birth in itself was a miracle in that he had no father. God describes his birth in the Quran as follows:

“And mention in the Book (the Quran), Mary, when she withdrew in seclusion from her family to a place facing east. She placed a screen (to screen herself) from them; then We sent to her a spirit from Us, (the angel Gabriel), and he appeared before her in the form of a man in all respects. She said: ‘Verily, I seek refuge with the Most Gracious (God) from you, if you do fear God.’ (The angel) said: ‘I am only a messenger from your Lord, (to announce) to you the gift of a righteous son.’ She said: ‘How can I have a son, when no man hath touched me, nor am I unchaste?’ He said: ‘So (it will be), your Lord said That is easy for Me (God): And (We wish) to appoint him as a sign to mankind and a mercy from Us (God), and it is a matter (already) decreed (by God).’” (Quran 19:16-21)

This fact, however, does not necessitate that Jesus is divine in essence or spirit, nor is he worthy of worship, for Adam’s existence was more miraculous than that of Jesus. If his miraculous birth were a proof that Jesus was God incarnate or His son, then Adam would have more right over this divinity than him. Rather, both are prophets who were inspired with revelation from God Almighty, and both were servants to Him living according to His commandments.

“Indeed, the likeness of Jesus with God is as the likeness of Adam. He created him of dust, then He said to him: ‘Be!’ and he was.’” (Quran 3:59)

Miracles

Muslims, like Christians believe that Jesus performed miracles. These miracles were performed by the will and permission of God, Who has power and control over all things.

“Then will God say: ‘O Jesus the son of Mary! Recount My favor to you and to your mother. Behold! I strengthened you with the Holy Spirit (the angel Gabriel) so that you did speak to the people in childhood and in maturity. Behold! I taught you the Book and Wisdom, the Torah and the Gospel. And behold: you make out of clay, as it were, the figure of a bird, by My leave, and you breathe into it, and it becomes a bird by My leave, and you heal those born blind, and the lepers by My leave. And behold! You bring forth the dead by My leave. And behold! I did restrain the Children of Israel from (violence to you) when you did show them the Clear Signs, and the unbelievers among them said: ‘This is nothing but evident magic.’” (Quran 5:110)

God sent all prophets with miracles specific to the nation to whom they were sent to prove the veracity of their message. These miracles were not performed of their own accord; rather, they were only manifest in their hands by God’s will. The miracles performed by Jesus were no different. The Jews were well advanced in the field of medicine, and the miracles which Jesus brought were of this nature, proving the truth of His message and in order to convince the Jews.

The Major Signs of the Day of Judgment (part 4 )The False Messiah II

In The Name of Allah Most, Compssionate, Ever Merciful
There is no deity (God) but Allah and Muhammad is the messenger of Allah

2049477631_c9dad99e27.jpg

The Major Signs of the Day of Judgment (part 4): The False Messiah II

One of the many aspects that one learns about via the story of the Dajjaal is that worldly wealth and achievements are not what determine a person’s worth and true value. Indeed, a person could possess all that the world contains yet if he is devoid of faith in his heart, he is truly worth nothing. Thus, another hadeeth in Saheeh Muslim reads:

Mugheerah ibn Shu’ba stated: No one asked God’s Messenger, may the mercy and blessings of God be upon him, more about the Dajjaal than I. He said (to me), “He should not be a source of worry to you for he would not be able to do any harm to you.” I said, “God’s Messenger, it is alleged that he would have along with him (abundance of) food and water.” Thereupon he said, “He (the Dajjaal) and his ability to misguide the believers with what God has allowed to be created by his (the Dajjaal’s) hands (i.e., the large quantities of food and water with him) would be insignificant in comparison to God’s ability to make these events a source for increasing the faith of the believers.”

Also mentioned in Saheeh Muslim are some hadeeths in which the Prophet Muhammad stated:

“There will be no land which the Dajjaal would not pass through or traverse except for Mecca and Medina, and there would no passage out of the passages leading to them which would not be guarded by angels arranged in rows. Then he (the Dajjaal) would appear in some tracts of land (which contain high concentrations of salt and wherein seepage occurs causing them to be barren) adjacent to the city of Medina and it (Medina) would sake violently such that every unbeliever and hypocrite would exit from it and move towards him (the Dajjaal).”

The Prophet also described the followers of the Dajjaal when he said:

“The Dajjaal would be followed by seventy thousand Jews of Isfahan wearing Persian shawls.”

The following longer hadeeth from Saheeh Muslim gives a more detailed account of the exploits of the Dajjaal and it will lead directly into the next occurring major sign of the Day of Judgment, the return of Jesus:

An-Nawwas ibn Sam’aan reported that God’s Messenger made a mention of the Dajjaal one day in the morning. He sometimes described him to be insignificant and sometimes described (his turmoil) as very significant and we felt as if he were in the cluster of the date-palm trees. When we went to him (to the Prophet) in the evening and he read (the signs of fear) in our faces, he said, “‘What is the matter with you?’ We said, ‘God’s Messenger, you made a mention of the Dajjaal in the morning (sometimes describing him) to be insignificant and sometimes very important, until we began to think as if he were present in some (near) part of the cluster of the date-palm trees.’ Thereupon he said, ‘I harbor fear in regard to you in so many other things besides the Dajjaal. If he comes forth while I am among you, I shall contend with him on your behalf, but if he comes forth while I am not among you, a man must contend on his own behalf and God would take care of every Muslim on my behalf (and safeguard him against his evil). He (the Dajjaal) would be a young man with twisted, contracted hair, and a blind eye. I compare him to Abd−ul−’Uzza b. Qatan. He who among you would survive to see him should recite over him the opening verses of Surah al-Kahf. He would appear on the way between Syria and Iraq and would spread mischief right and left. O servant of God! Adhere (to the path of Truth).’ We said, ‘God’s Messenger, how long would he stay on the earth?’ He said, ‘For forty days, one day like a year and one day like a month and one day like a week and the rest of the days would be like your (normal) days.’ We said, ‘God’s Messenger, would one day’s prayer suffice for the prayers of day equal to one year?’ Thereupon he said, ‘No, but you must make an estimate of time (and then observe prayer).’ We said, ‘God’s Messenger, how quickly would he walk upon the earth?’ Thereupon he said, ‘Like a cloud driven by the wind. He would come to the people and invite them (to a wrong religion) and they would affirm their faith in him and respond to him. He would then give a command to the sky and there would be rainfall upon the earth and it would grow crops. Then in the evening, their posturing animals would come to them with their humps very high and their udders full of milk and their flanks stretched. He would then come to another people and invite them. But they would reject him and he would go away from them and there would be drought for them and nothing would be left with them in the form of wealth. He would then walk through the waste land and say to it, ‘Bring forth your treasures,’ and the treasures would come out and collect (themselves) before him like the swarm of bees. He would then call a person brimming with youth and strike him with the sword and cut him into two pieces and (make these pieces lie at a distance which is generally) between the archer and his target. He would then call (that young man) and he will come forward laughing with his face gleaming (with happiness) and it would at this very time that God would send Christ, son of Mary…’”

`Uthman bin `Affan (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
I heard the Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) saying:
“One who performs `Isha’ prayer in congregation,
is as if he has performed Salat for half of the night.
And one who performs the Fajr prayer in congregation,
is as if he has performed Salat the whole night.”
[Muslim]

The narration of At-Tirmidhi says:
`Uthman bin Affan (May Allah be pleased with him) narrated
that he had heard the Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) saying:
“He who attends `Isha’ in congregation,
is as if he has performed Salat for half of the night;
and he who attends `Isha’ and Fajr prayers in congregation,
is as if he has performed Salat for the whole night.”

Commentary:
This Hadith tells us that the reward of performing `Isha’ and Fajr prayers
in congregation is so great that it equals the worship of the whole night.

Recite Surah Al-Kahf on Friday

Surah Al-Kahf
(The Cave)

https://i0.wp.com/muslimmatters.org/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/761962_cave_5.jpg

Virtues of reciting Surah al-Kahf

We are encouraged to recite/read Surah Kahf on Fridays.

This is something proven from the Sunnah

of the Prophet (peace be upon him).

There are saheeh ahaadeeth from the Prophet
(peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him)

concerning the virtues of reciting Surah al-Kahf

during the day or night of Jumu’ah (Friday).

These include:

From Abu Sa’eed al-Khudri

(May Allah be pleased with him), who said:

“Whoever reads Surah al-Kahf

on the night of Jumu’ah,

will have a light that will stretch

between him and the Ancient House

(the Ka’bah).”

(Narrated by al-Daarimi, 3407.

This hadeeth was classed as saheeh

by Shaykh al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Jaami, 6471)

***

“Whoever reads Surah Al-Kahf

on the day of Jumu’ah,

will have a light that will shine from him

from one Friday to the next.”

(Narrated by al-Haakim, 2/399; al-Bayhaqi, 3/249.

It was classed as saheeh by Shaykh al-Albaani

in Saheeh al-Jaami’, 6470)

The surah may be read

during the night or the day of Jumu’ah.

The night of Jumu’ah starts from sunset on Thursday,

and the day of Jumu’ah ends at sunset.

Therefore the time for reading this surah extends

from sunset on Thursday to sunset on Friday.

Al-Kahf (The Cave)

~ Introduction ~

Name

This Surah takes its name from v. 9 in which the word (Al-kahf) occurs.

Period of Revelation

This is the first of those Surahs which were sent down in the third stage of Prophethood at Makkah. We have already divided the life of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) at Makkah into four stages in the Introduction to Chapter VI. According to that division the third stage lasted from the fifth to the tenth year of Prophethood. What distinguishes this stage from the second and the fourth stages is this. During the second stage the Quraish mainly resorted to ridiculing, scoffing, threatening, tempting, raising objections and making false propaganda against the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) and his followers in order to suppress the Islamic Movement. But during the third stage they employed the weapons of persecution, man handling and economic pressure for the same purpose. So much so that a large number of the Muslims had to emigrate from Arabia to Habash, and those who remained behind were besieged in Shi’ib Abi Talib along with the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) and his family. To add to their misery, a complete social and economic boycott was applied against them. The only redeeming feature was that there were two personalities, Abu Talib and Hadrat Khadijah, whose personal influence had been conducive to the support of two great families of the Quraish. However, when in the tenth year of Prophethood these two persons died, the fourth stage began with such revere persecutions as forced the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) and all his Companions to emigrate from Makkah.

It appears from the theme of the Surah that it was revealed at the beginning of the third stage when in spite of persecutions and opposition, migration to Habash had not yet taken place. That is why the story of “Ashab-i-Kahf” (the Sleepers of the Cave) has been related to comfort and encourage the persecuted Muslims and to show them how the righteous people have been saving their Faith in the past.

Subject and Topics

This Surah was sent down in answer to the three questions which the mushriks of Makkah, in consultation with the people of the Book, had put to the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) in order to test him. These were:

(1) Who were “the Sleepers of’ the Cave” ?

(2) What is the real story of Khidr? and

(3) What do you know about Zul- Qarnain?

As these three questions and the stories involved concerned the history of the Christians and the Jews, and were unknown in Hijaz, a choice of these was made to test whether the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) possessed any source of the knowledge of the hidden and unseen things.

Allah, however, not only gave a complete answer to their questions but also employed the three stories to the disadvantage of the opponents of Islam in the conflict that was going on at that time at Makkah between Islam and un-belief:

1. The questioners were told that “the Sleepers of the Cave” believed in the same doctrine of Tauhid which was being put forward in the Qur’an and that their condition was similar to the condition of the persecuted Muslims of Makkah. On the other hand, the persecutors of the Sleepers of the Cave had behaved in the same way towards them as the disbelievers of the Quraish were behaving towards the Muslims. Besides this, the Muslims have been taught that even if a Believer is persecuted by a cruel society, he should not bow down before falsehood but emigrate from the place all alone, if need be, with trust in God. Incidentally the disbelievers of Makkah were told that the story of the Sleepers of the Cave was a clear proof of the creed of the Hereafter, for this showed that Allah has the power to resurrect anyone He wills even after a long sleep of death as He did in case of the Sleepers of the Cave.

2. The story of the Sleepers of the Cave has also been used to warn the chiefs of Makkah who were persecuting the small newly formed Muslim Community. At the same time, the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) has been instructed that he should in no case make a compromise with their persecutors nor should he consider them to be more important than his poor followers. On the other hand, those chiefs have been admonished that they should not be puffed up with the transitory life of pleasure they were then enjoying but should seek after those excellences which are permanent and eternal.

3. The story of Khidr and Moses has been related in such a way as to supply the answer to the question of the disbelievers and to give comfort to the Believers as well. The lesson contained in this story is this “You should have full faith in the wisdom of what is happening in the Divine Factory in accordance with the will of Allah. As the reality is hidden from you, you are at a loss to understand the wisdom of what is happening, and sometimes if it appears that things are going against you, you cry out, ‘How and why has this happened’. The fact is that if the curtain be removed from the “unseen”, you would yourselves come to know that what is happening here is for the best. Even if some times it appears that something is going against you, you will see that in the end it also produces some good results for you.

4. The same is true of the story of Zul-Qarnain for it also admonishes the questioners, as if to say, “0 you vain chiefs of Makkah you should learn a lesson from Zul-Qarnain. Though he was a great ruler, a great conqueror and the owner of great resources, yet he always surrendered to his Creator, whereas you are rebelling against Him even though you are insignificant chieftains in comparison with him. Besides this, though Zul-Qarnain built one of the strongest walls for protection, yet his real trust was in Allah and not in the “wall”. He believed that the wall could protect him against his enemies as long as it was the will of Allah and that there would be crack and holes in it, when it would be His will : whereas you who possess only insignificant fortified abodes and dwellings in comparison with him, consider yourselves to be permanently safe and secure against all sorts of calamities.”

While the Qur’an turned the tables on the questioners who had tried to “expose” the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him), in the end of the Surah the same things have been reiterated that were stated at its beginning: “Tauhid and the Hereafter are absolutely true and real and for your own good you should accept these doctrines, mend your ways in accordance with them and live in this world with this conviction that you are accountable to Allah: otherwise you shall ruin your life and all your doings shall be set at naught.”

Sajde Se Karbala Ko Bandagi Mil Gai,
Sabar Se Ummat Ko Zindagi Mil Gai,
Ek Chaman FATIMA (S.A) Ka Ujda,
Magar Sare Islam Ko Zindagi Mil Gai

Jannat Ki Aarzu Mein
Kahan Ja Rahe Hain Log

Jannat To Karbala Mein
Khareedi HUSSAIN Nai

Dunya-o-Aakhrat Mein
Jo Rehna Ho Chain Se

Jeena ALI Se Seekho
Marna HUSSAIN Se.

############

Har dil Pe Naqsh Hai Naam-E-Hussain
Koun Bhula Sakta Hai Shahadat-E-Hussain

Nasha-E-iqtedar Mein Bhool Gaya Yazeed
Nawasa-E-Rasool Hai Yeh Hussain Jung Iqtedar ki Naa The Magar Sachayi ki
Badi Shaan Se Haider Ke Sajde Ko

Poora Karne Gaye Hussain
Aasman Ro Pada Zameen Hil Gayi
Bade Itmenan Jab Sajde Mein Gaye Hussain Shikast Toh Muqadar The Yazeed Ka
Maqtal Mein Bhi Hui Fateh-E-Hussain.

Afzal Hai Kul Jahan Se Ghrana Hussain Ka
Nabiyon Ka Taj-dar Hai Nana Hussain Ka

Jo 9-10 Muharram Ke Roze Rakhega
Usse 2 Saal ki ibadat ka Sawab Milega
or Jo Kisi Doosre Ko Batayega Usse Bhi
Is ibadat Ka Sawab Milega..

#############

Anjam-E-Wafa
Ki Hai Yeh Socha Nahi Karte
Muslim Kabhi Halaat Se Souda Nahi Karte
Yeh Rasm Sikhai Hai HUSSAIN IBN-ALI Ne
Sir Sajde Mein Ho Toh Teeroun Ki Parwah Nahi Karte .
